Opened in 1967 as Trexler Junior High School, the building was named in honor of General Harry C. Trexler, best known for his military, agricultural, industrial and philanthropic achievements.
The Bulldog is its mascot, in recognition of the bulldog symbol used by local manufacturer, Mack Trucks, Inc.
