Nurse's Message '22-'23

  • COVID is unfortunately still around. DO NOT send your child to school if they are SICK. Call the nurse to let her know and she will excuse them while they get a LAB COVID TEST (home tests only count if they are positive).

  • 7th Graders need  TDAP (Tetanus) and Meningitis vaccines. You have been notified by phone and email if your child needs one. See Attached flyer of clinics. EXCLUSION DAY 9/7/22.

  • 6th graders need a PHYSICAL (7th and 8th graders only need one if they never handed in their 6th grade one). Physical form in document bank below.

  • GLASSES: If your child wears glasses, please make sure they have them. They can not learn if they can’t see. CALL the nurse if you don’t have insurance and she can get you a voucher.

  • INHALERS, EPIPENS and other meds: Students need to keep meds in nurse's office and need a doctor's order (Medication authorization form located in the document bank below). No meds can be carried by a student, even Tylenol, unless a doctor orders them to carry it.

Please call us for help with:

  • Medical insurance
  • Glasses
  • Dental
  • Physicals
  • Medication forms to keep Inhalers/EpiPens and other supplies in school

Ask us about the Medical Van (every Monday) and the Dental Van (every other Tuesday)

If your child is ill before school, please do the following:

  • Take their temperature. (Every family needs a thermometer; they can be found at dollar stores). Do not send a child to school if their temperature is 100 degrees or more.
  • For sore throats, if you see a white spot on the back of their throat see a doctor. Please give acetaminophen (Tylenol). Store brand medications are the same thing and less expensive.
  • For sprains give ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil) and ice the area. If they can’t move the injured part, see a doctor or go to the emergency room.
  • For colds/allergies give NON-DROWSY decongestants/allergy medications.
  • For stomachache/ nausea give Tums.
  • For diarrhea give Lomotil/ Kaopectate/ Children’s Pepto-Bismol

For all of the above: If your child has a high fever of 101 or higher or the illness lasts more than a few days, see a doctor.

NEVER give Aspirin to children.
