Liayn Morris Named Counselor of Year
Liayn Morris, Counselor at Trexler Middle School, has been named Counselor of the Year by the Lehigh Carbon School Counselors Association (LCSCA). Morris was surprised with the honor on February 8 at the LCSCA Networkshop and Luncheon, as her family and Trexler leadership applauded.
She was selected from many well-deserving nominees due to her dedication and support of students in the Allentown School District both at Trexler Middle School and William Allen High School. She is known for her professionalism, thoroughness, and calm presence in every situation.
In her nomination letter, Christine Piripavel, Trexler Middle School Principal, stated, “Liayn possesses many skills, abilities, and knowledge within the field of counseling as well as educational practices. More importantly, her ability to apply vast experiences and best practices to the everyday issues that challenge and confront counselors ensures she is respected among her students, colleagues and supervisors.” Adding, “She understands the advantages of remaining issue-focused and being a problem solver with parents, students, and colleagues.”
“She makes positive contributions to the mission and climate of our school,” stated Jennifer Bryant, Trexler Middle School Supervisor of Instruction. “She is revered by her counseling colleagues and administrators, and most importantly, she is loved by the students and staff of our school.”
Morris has been with the Allentown School District since 2002. She was a Counselor at William Allen High School from 2005 to 2014, and has been at Trexler Middle School since 2014. In addition, Morris is currently enrolled in a doctoral program in school counseling.
